Consultancy Contracts

Consultancy contracts represent a low proportion of government procurement contracts overall, however at times, Commonwealth Agencies require access to specialist skills or independent advice for particular projects, which are more efficiently obtained from the private sector. Consultants deliver value for money when the need for additional support is temporary, project specific, or is highly specialised in nature.

Note: AusTender data provides the total value of contracts awarded and does not reflect annual expenditure. The reports above are based on the period contracts or amendments to contracts were awarded to government suppliers.

Information on annual consultancy expenditure is available on the Australian Government’s Transparency Portal. The portal provides users with a range of corporate information, as well as enabling users to compare information across entities and/or across years. The portal can be found here.
